Rajgir, Bihar: India ended an eight-year wait to lift the Hockey Asia Cup 2025 title after beating Korea 4-1 in the final on Sunday. With this dominant win, India not only secured their fourth Asia Cup crown but also booked a direct spot in the 2026 Men’s Hockey World Cup in the Netherlands and Belgium.
India’s Road to Victory
Goals from Sukhjeet Singh, Dilpreet Singh (2), and Amit Rohidas sealed the match for India. Korea’s Son Dain managed a consolation strike late in the game, but it was not enough to dent India’s dominance.
India last won the Asia Cup in 2017, and with this victory, they join their past triumphs in 2003, 2007, and 2017, making 2025 their fourth title.
Dilpreet Singh Named Player of the Match
Dilpreet Singh, who scored twice in the final, was adjudged Player of the Match. Speaking after the win, he said:
“It had been 8 years since we won the Asia Cup. Our main target was to win it and then qualify for the World Cup. From day one, our goal was to take a shot and convert it into a PC when entering the circle. Today that worked perfectly.”
Abhishek and Sukhjeet Among Top Scorers
India’s Abhishek and Sukhjeet Singh both finished the tournament with six goals each, placing them joint-second in the top scorers’ list. Malaysia’s Akhimullah Anuar topped the chart with 12 goals.
